With the collectivist mentality, singles in Korea used to have a hard time getting a table at restaurants. 

However, the emergence of the solo economy has opened up new opportunities for enterprises that cater to single customers. Tables for one at restaurants, single-seat karaoke rooms, and gym modules designed for one person at a time are a few examples.

The single-person lifestyle has contributed to a rise in pet ownership as well. 

In 2016, Duo, a popular dating company, surveyed 1,000 unmarried men and women and found that 33% thought marriage was mandatory. It’s less than the 43.2% reported in a 2013 poll. This was because more singles today believe that dating is a ‘wasteful’

Many studies have found that having meaningful relationships is linked to improved health, happiness, and even longer life. Satisfying relationships not only make us happy, but they also have a long-term impact on our health, getting enough sleep, eating healthy, and avoiding smoking. 

However, there’s nothing wrong with being single. Many 모태솔로 are satisfied and happy with their lives.
