‘멍청비용(Stupidity Expense/Stupid Expense)’ is a new slang term that refers to ‘the additional expense incurred only solely due to one’s mistakes or carelessness.’ 


The first one on the list is read, ‘구독권 해지하는 거 까먹었을 때(When one forgets to terminate a free-trial subscription after a month.)’


The second one is read, ‘비오는 날 우산 안 가져왔을 때(When one forgets to bring an umbrella, and it’s raining)’

The third one is read, ‘지하철이나 버스 잘못타서 택시 잡을 때 (When one has gotten on the wrong bus so they had to grab a taxi)’ - One will have to pay for both the bus and the taxi.


The fourth one is read, ‘립밤 잃어버려서 새로 샀는데 찾았을 때 (When one buys a lip balm assuming that they have lost it but finds an old one immediately after buying a new one)’


The fifth one is read, ‘보호필름 안 붙였는데 폰 떨어뜨렸을 때 (When you drop your phone without a film screen protector on)’


The sixth one is read, ‘버스 내리면서 다른 카드 찍었을 때 (When you scan a different card getting off the bus)’ - In Korea, using public transportation card allows you to enjoy the discounted bus fare. To enjoy the discounted fare, you need to scan your card when you get off the bus. The discount will be applied to up to four transfers within 30 minutes after getting off and scanning your card. However, if you accidentally scan another card, you will be charged twice for the bus ride and will not be qualified for the transfer discount.
