Recently, in Korea, posting pictures of oneself exercising on social media has become popular. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people started working out at home, and they began posting pictures of themselves working out. They often use hashtags like ‘헬린이,’ ‘오운완,’ and ‘오하운’.
‘헬린이’ is a combination of ‘헬스’ and ‘어린이’.
‘헬스’ means ‘gym’ or ‘fitness’
‘어린이’ means ‘child(ren)’.
So, ‘헬린이’ usually refers to someone who has recently joined a gym for the first time in their life and is learning how to exercise.
‘오운완’ is an abbreviation for ‘오늘 운동 완료/Today's workout is done.’
‘오늘’ means ‘today’
‘운동’ means ‘workout’ or ‘exercise’
‘완료’ means ‘complete(d)’
‘오하운’ has a similar meaning as ‘오운완’.
