[Korean Culture & Language] Don’t count on me, Don’t get your hopes up

Hello, this is Uptempo!

Taeyeon's "INVU," continues to claim the top of the charts in March 2022.

The following are the lyrics:

Falling in love 너에겐 option
Falling in love. To you, I’m just an option.

You and I were different to start with (We started at a different line)

깨지는 heart 빗나간 mention
Breaking heart, your missed mention.

익숙하거든 yeah
I’m used to it. Yeah.

I think I lost my mind

But, It's my kind of love (But that’s the type of love I give)

I pour it all out and then collapse

Finally, at one point, I notice myself exhausted

I’m trying so hard

So I can't love you

Even though I do

Even when I push you away, I can’t beat you.

While I fade away,

you shine brighter. It’s an irony.

So I N V U (ooh)

I N V U (ooh)

(I N V U)

Don’t count on me, Don’t get your hopes up.

Even though the words ‘기대지 (Gidaeji ma)’ and ‘기대하지 (Gidae haji ma)’ sound similar, they have completely different meanings. ‘기대다  means ‘to lean on someone’ or ‘to count on someone while 기대하지 means ‘do not keep your hopes up’.
