유재석(Yoo Jae Suk) is the most popular comedian and MC in Korea. He is the host of the most popular variety shows like Running Man, Happy Together, Infinite Challenge, Family Outing, and others. He is far more popular than any k-pop idols that have ever existed.

Matter of fact, Daily Sports Korea published that 유재석(Yoo Jae Suk) was rated the top in the survey “Who is your favorite celebrity” on November 20th, 2020. He had a higher popularity rating than BTS, with BTS and IU coming in second and third, respectively.


There is even a ‘유재석 어록 (Quotes by Yoo Jae Suk)’. The word ‘어록’ usually refers to a book that contains quotes from prominent historical figures. However, since many people consider 유재석 (Yoo Jae Suk) a ‘living legend,’ no one thinks it’s unusual to use the word ‘어록’ for his quotes.

Personally, the 5th quote struck me the most. Korea has one of the world’s most merciless education systems and a highly hierarchical work culture. ‘Stepping’ on others has become a common phenomenon because of the intense competition. I believe that there will be more successful people in Korea only if the culture allows individuals to be less competitive and more supportive of one another.

It took years to catch him because he has ‘ 신분세탁 (washed his identity) ’ . While hiding in China, he made a new passport after ‘ 신분세탁 (washing his identification) ’.
